I have dressed the same for near fifty years now. I like tennis shoes, blues jeans, and shirts. That is pretty much it. I do interchange the jeans for shorts in the summer and I have been known to wear khakis, sport jackets or suits as the occasion dictates but these occasions tend to be few and far between. I am not opposed to change but change just for the sake of change is for others. I like keeping a routine and the simpler the better works best for me.
In recent times, I have taken to wearing shirts that support a cause or express a sentiment. This is a big step up for me given my history of being non-controversial and conforming. When Gina introduced the “Stronger Together” tee shirt a couple of years ago, I found a shirt that captured what I consider to be both a cause and a sentiment that I wholeheartedly support. These days “Stronger Together” is the closest thing I have to a mantra.
At that time, Gina provided me two in the same shade of blue. Since that time, I have worn them as often as I can. I believe in the message. I believe in the cause. Unfortunately, one of my shirts met an early demise and I was left with but the one. It is hard to maintain a new habit when the source of the habit is cut in half so, I began doing what I do best, grumping about my lack of not having more than one of the same thing.
Having one of your very best friends being a co-owner of the Shirt Gallery, one of the most creative and customer responsive companies around, comes with perks. One of these perks is that Gina is on a first name basis with the Shirt Fairy and, in so being, must have relayed my grumping to the fairy in some detail because the cache of shirts pictured here, were laying in my front seat this past Friday morning.
So, to all of you that don’t believe in fairies or friendship, poo-poo to you. And for all of those that are tired of seeing me in the same shade of blue “Stronger Together” tee, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
** The TEK Center shirt was a pleasant surprise but that is a story for a different day.
