For a moment this morning, I stood outside watching the huge snowflakes fall through the early morning light as the FUPs scurried to do their thing. In this moment I felt a sense of something that I can’t capture with words alone. Within it though, was an instant of peacefulness; a peace rooted in hope and draped with a shield built from a lifetime of only those memories that captured the best of life’s offerings. It was only for the briefest of moments, but it was real.
My tranquil trance was broken when the FUPs hurried uncharacteristically back inside. The urgency, I suppose, being a mixture of excitement and a hesitation from the unknown. Regardless, it was with purpose. Closing the door behind the FUPs, securing them once again within their sanctuary, I smiled and said goodbye to this momentary respite forever. Simple things can make a world of difference.
